The GT-Digital Microbial Source Tracking (MST) Enterococcus; Sketa Assay Kit v1.0 for the Bio-Rad QX200™ or QX600™ is a molecular reagent kit containing all primers, probes, and controls necessary for the environmental surveillance of microbial DNA specific to Enterococcus spp. from environmental water (EW). The target used to detect Enterococcus DNA is Entero1a, located on the 16S rRNA gene (6-copy gene). This assay also utilizes Sketa (Sketa-22, Salmon Sperm DNA) as a matrix recovery control (also called an internal process control), allowing the user to normalize extraction processes for potential differences in DNA recovery. This assay allows identification of fecal contamination sources in freshwater environments, including lakes, rivers, reservoirs, groundwater, and stormwater. Assay solutions and appropriate controls are provided to ensure accurate quantification of all targets. When used in conjunction with the Bio-Rad QX200™ or QX600™ Droplet Digital™ PCR System, this kit facilitates reliable microbial source tracking, supporting environmental water (EW) quality assessments and public health surveillance efforts. Contains enough material for 200 reactions.
IMPORTANT! MST Enterococcus; Sketa Assay Kit has been validated on environmental fresh water. This assay can work on wastewater, however further optimization and validation is required by the user.
