The GT Real-Time Microbial Source Tracking Beach Detection Panel v 1.0 comprises a molecular reagent kit containing all primers, probes, controls, and master mix required for the detection of host-associated genetic markers in environmental freshwater samples using Real-Time PCR platforms. The panel enables identification of fecal contamination sources, including human and animal inputs, to support microbial source tracking (MST) investigations in rivers, lakes, reservoirs, groundwater, and stormwater. The assay targets host-associated Bacteroides markers and a process control, including human HF183, gull Gull4, canine BacCan, and goose ND2 markers, as well as an extraction/process control – Sketa (Salmon DNA target).
The assay kit is validated for use with the GTM qPCR Master Mix on the Bio-Rad™ CFX Opus™ 96 Real-Time PCR and Thermo Fisher Scientific QuantStudio™ 5 Real-Time PCR Systems. Other similar systems may be compatible.
Contains enough material for 100 reactions.
IMPORTANT!
This panel is intended for qualitative detection (presence/absence) of target markers in freshwater environmental samples. It is not validated for absolute or relative quantification.
If quantitative results are required, the user is responsible for establishing and validating appropriate calibration curves, controls, and performance characteristics under their specific experimental conditions. We strongly recommend the use of digital PCR or digital-dropletTM PCR for absolute quantitation.

This assay has been validated with environmental water and tested with wastewater; further optimization will be required for routine use on wastewater.
